About us

Behind Davilo are people with names, faces and qualifications you can verify.

Davilo is an online German language institute that grew out of a research and development project on digital language learning. We teach live, on a research-based method, and consistently along the CEFR levels from A1 to C2.

Founder

Dr. Amir Meshkin Mehr

PhD in foreign language didactics. Teacher. Developer.

I never wanted to choose between research and the classroom. Davilo is where the two come together.

Amir Meshkin Mehr taught German long before he wrote a dissertation about it. At the Goethe-Institut he accumulated several thousand teaching hours over the years, with learners from very different starting points: from the first letters of the alphabet to C1 exam preparation.

Alongside teaching, he researched computer-assisted language learning at PH Schwäbisch Gmünd: which digital formats genuinely move learners forward, and which are merely convenient? The answers turned into interactive, multimedia learning modules, which he first tested in his own classes.

He founded Davilo because that path is rarely walked to the end: findings stay inside publications, and online teaching often remains a filmed version of the classroom course. He still teaches himself. Every course structure at Davilo is tried in class before it enters the platform.

Origins

How Davilo began

It started with a research question rather than a business model. Studies on digital learning environments became learning modules, the modules became a course programme, and the programme became a full online institute that pairs academic expertise with its own technical development.

Method

How we teach

Our teaching follows what research shows to work: live, communicative, in small groups and with clearly defined levels. The name of the institute spells out that approach.

DAVILO — Deutsch Autonom Virtuell Interaktiv Lernen Online

D
