Max's journey

From struggling with German to coffee with friends

Learning a language is never a straight line. Follow Max through a year of good days, hard weeks and small wins, all the way to the café table.

  1. Before Davilo

    Stuck between books and rules

Max tried books, apps and classes, but nothing clicked. German felt like memorizing rules, not learning a language.

  2. Day 1

A QR code on the way home

On his way home, Max spotted a Davilo ad that said “Play your way to fluency”. He scanned it on the spot.

  3. Day 3

    Suddenly German feels fun

That night he opened Davilo on his laptop and found more than 50,000 games. One quick round turned into ten.

  4. Week 7

A hard week and an almost lost streak

Work got busy and motivation dropped. A five-minute game a day was enough to keep his streak alive.

  5. Month 4

    Badges, levels and real progress

Every badge felt like levelling up in a game, only this time in real life. A2 turned into B1.

  6. Day 365

365 days, and it all paid off

A full year of practice: a 365-day streak, a wall of badges and a new level, B2. Every hard day was worth it.

  7. Today

Coffee with friends, all in German

Now Max chats with his friends in fluent German. Not in a classroom, but in cafés, on trips and wherever life takes him.

Backed by Research and Development

Built on Research, Designed for Real Learning

Dr. Amir Mahdi Meshkin MehrDoctoral research on interactive and adaptive language learning

  1. Davilo isn’t just another language app, it’s the result of years of academic research and development led by Dr. Amir Mahdi Meshkin Mehr, whose doctoral work focused on interactive and adaptive language learning methods.

  2. Developed as part of Amir Mahdi Meshkin Mehr's doctoral thesis, Davilo combines educational psychology, gamified learning, and user experience research to make mastering German more engaging.

  3. Each feature, from adaptive exercises to streak-based motivation, is grounded in evidence-based studies that enhance retention and learner confidence.

  4. The studies focused on how interactive, multimedia-based exercises and task-oriented learning environments can enhance learner engagement, autonomy, and long-term retention in German as a Foreign or Second Language (DaF/DaZ).
